Roses originated 35 million years ago. They are know to be a symbol of love, beauty, war, and politics. During the Roman Period roses were used as confetti at celebrations, for medicinal purposes, and as a source of perfume.
During the 15th century, the rose was used for factions fighting to control England. The white rose was to symbolized York, and the red rose was to symbolized Lancaster, and as a result, the conflict was known as the "War of the Roses."
During the 17th century Roses were in such high demand that royalty considered roses or rose water as legal tender, and they were often used as barter and for payments.
